OLPH SCHOOL’S REOPENING
11-13-2020 Update: Due to the current overwhelming COVID-19 numbers, Riverside County Health Department has paused our school wavier. Although we do not have a set date, they did state it would be reviewed weekly. We apologize as we know many of us were excited about the reopening news. We will keep everyone updated as we get new information.
Dear Parent and Guardians,
Thank you for your participation in the recent survey. Based on the responses they have received, the Office of Catholic Schools and Bishop Alberto Rojas have informed us of their decision to allow our school to apply for the reopening wavier for grades TK/K-5th grade. We will begin working swiftly on submitting the wavier and have been preparing to allow for the students to return to campus. In regards to our 6 – 8 grades, the waiver process does not allow for middle school to return as of yet as COVID related risks are higher among this age group.
Please take the time to read through the attached letter below from the Office of Catholic Schools. As mentioned in the letter, each principal will decide on an appropriate reopening date according to their school. During the previous parent meeting, I informed parents that we would open in stages beginning with our lowest level grades first. Here at OLPH, our staff and students’ health is our top priority, and we will ensure we open safely. However, rest assured that I do understand how crucial it is for our students to return to campus.
We have met with our teachers and staff and will be sending updates and further information regarding the reopening once it is available. We can’t tell you how much we appreciate the support you have shown us during these challenging times. I know that this decision was in part due to your diligence with emails, letters, and your participation in the survey. I ask that you continue to pray for those affected by COVID-19 as well as our school and parish community.
