REOPENING AUGUST 24, 2020

Information for Families

Dear Parents and Guardians,

OLPH hopes that your summer has been a restful one. We are reaching out to update you on our plan of reopening. Although we are awaiting our official reopening guidelines from the Diocese of San Bernardino, we want to assure you that when we reopen, the health and safety of students and staff is our top priority.

Although the prevention of COVID-19 spread cannot be guaranteed, we will take reasonable measures for the safety of all students, staff, and parents. Here are just a few things that will be incorporated into our plan.

  • On-site instruction and the option for live stream distance learning at no added cost to parents
  • Staggered drop-off and pick-up times
  • Morning temperature checks
  • Face shields provided to all students and staff
  • Social distancing within the classroom
  • Separate recesses for various grade levels to ensure separation and sanitation of lunch tables/playground equipment in-between use
  • Separate lunches for various grade levels to ensure sanitation of lunch tables/playground equipment in-between use
  • Classrooms will have limited exposure to others and only cohort teachers and staff will be allowed in the classroom
  • Limited or no student movement between classes to limit exposure

In the event that a student, staff, or a family does contract COVID-19, OLPH has a plan in place. Some of the responses will entail:

  • 14-day quarantine of those who test positive
  • Negative tests in order to return
  • Classes that may have been directly exposed may also face a 14-day quarantine with the option of live distance learning
  • Students and staff that have symptoms may possibly encounter a 14-day quarantine and will have the option to use our live distance learning.
  • Parents would be notified of any positive cases and administration would be in constant communication with our school families.

OLPH campus will have the following in place:

  • Wall mount hand sanitizer dispensers in every classroom, office, and lobbies
  • Lunch tables sanitized in-between student use
  • Restrooms sanitized three times a day
  • Playground equipment and playground structures sanitized in-between student use
  • No outside visitors or volunteers will be allowed on campus or in the classrooms
  • Office hours by appointment only in order to ensure sanitation between visits

August 24th is the projected start day for our 2020-2021 school year. We will have all CDC requirements in place, along with the option of Live Distance Learning. You will have further details once they are finalized.

We know that in order to make a decision regarding your child’s education it’s crucial to give you some insight into our planning. Please reach out to us via email if you should have any further questions, however, we urge you to read through official reopening guidelines once released from the Diocese of San Bernardino.

Due to CDC requirements, we are limiting class sizes. Preschool classes will be limited to 10 students per class. Due to the limited amount of space, and the overwhelming inquires of new enrollments from public school families, we urge you to register now. If you have yet to turn in your registration packet and registration fees, we encourage you to do so as soon as possible.

Please continue to pray for our school, staff, and families. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back for the 2020-2021 school year.

God Bless,

OLPH Administration

Information for Families (Español)

Estimados padres,

The Best Prevention

The best way to prevent novel coronavirus transmission is by washing your hands with soap and water. Here’s the five-step process the CDC recommends.

Free Educational Websites for Home

Sometimes screen time is a necessity if we have children at home and work we need to do. Here are three apps that make screen time a learning time:

  1. CodeMonkey: a game-based education program that teaches children to code. It comes with a membership fee, but there’s a free 14-day trial that doesn’t require a credit card.
  2. BrainPop: Online learning across subject areas for children in kindergarten through middle school and ELL learning for all age groups. Free.
  3. Khan Academy: Online learning in math, science, and literacy for all age groups. Standards-aligned. Free.
  4. BrainPop: Fun, interactive educational activities for all ages and all subject areas
  5. Scholastic Learn at Home: Interactive learning journeys for all ages.
