GOVERNOR NEWSOME’S ANNOUNCEMENT

Parents and Guardians,
Although we are off the watch list and have moved into the red tier as a county, we are still under the direction of the Diocese of San Bernardino and our Most Rev. Bishop Gerald Barnes. Our K-8 school will continue to remain closed for now and will be reviewed by the Diocese for a safe reopening date. We will update parents on any changes that may come. We are elated with the news of the preschool’s reopening, ask that you keep OLPH school in prayer, and please share the news with parents/guardians who may be looking to enroll their child into a Preschool or TK program.

PRESCHOOL REOPENING

Our Preschool campus will reopen for students to attend on-site by October 9th. We are currently taking enrollment in the school office. Please call ahead to ensure sanitation in-between visits. There are a few spaces available in our TK classroom. TK will return to campus as a part of our preschool program.

NEW ROLE FOR MRS. MARY RODRIGUEZ

Many of our parents are familiar with Mrs. Rodriguez, who taught kindergarten for many years and stepped into the Assistant Principal role here at OLPH School. This year, Mrs. Rodriguez will take a step back from her Assistant Principal role and take on the role of the new Preschool Director. She will focus her energy on preschool, co-teaching, and teacher support. We know she will do an amazing job! Thank you for your dedication to OLPH, Mrs. Rodriguez. If you should have any concerns or questions regarding our K-8th school, please contact your student’s teacher or our school office at (760)347-3786.

HELP US CELEBRATE MS. MARGARET

Although we had hoped to plan a Mass and reception for Ms. Margaret, COVID-19 has paused this celebration. We are, however, planning on putting together a video montage with messages from all of her previous students, parents, and staff. Please record your memories and a message for our beloved Ms. Margaret. Please send all video messages to olphschoolindio@gmail.com or sarah@srsocialmedia.com.

SCHOOL PICTURE DAY

We are planning a school picture day, and Mass uniforms are required. If you haven’t already done so, make sure to order your uniform. We are looking at a late November or early December date for pictures. Norman’s Uniforms does take 3-4 weeks for shipping. To order online, visit normansuniforms.com.

PARENTS’ CLUB MEETING

Parents and Guardians, our first parents’ club meeting was very productive and positive! Thank you, parents, for your participation and eagerness to take part in fundraisers and solutions to keep our school flourishing.

Since our meeting we have had parents donate, contact vendors for raffle items, and offer their assistance with launching the raffles. All of you have your own talents to offer, and we are grateful for your time and contributions. Click here for the agenda to our meeting, and click here for the meeting minutes.

It was truly a blessing to see how our parents came together and found ways to assist. I am overjoyed with the sense of community we are building. GO, ANGEL PARENTS!!!

Also, please feel free to reach out to any of our Parents’ Club officers to collaborate or offer ideas:

FIRST COMMUNION MASS IS SCHEDULED

4th Grade Parents, thank you for your support and patience. We finally have a date for our First Reconciliation and First Communion Mass.

First Reconciliation (Confession)
October 17th at 10:00 am

First Communion
November 14th at 10:00 am

As we await further directions, please have your children practice The Act of Contrition prayer. All students should know this prayer for confession.

4th grade students that still need to complete the Sacrament of Baptism need to contact the parish office immediately. Please email me ahead of time so that I can let them know you are a school referral. If your student is not baptized, they will not be allowed to make their First Communion.

OLPH SCHOOL PHONE LINES

OLPH School did recently shift our phone systems to a VOIP phone system. The new VOIP system will benefit the school financially, although we have experienced some disruption to the system and are working on diagnosing the problem. We thank you for your patience.

What people think of us

Some of my most favorite memories were at OLPH. I had two very lucky sons that were fortunate enough to attend what I call the greatest, Catholic school there is. They got a wonderful education that laid the ground work for their high school and college years. Both my sons are excelling beyond belief with straight A’s and even making the Dean’s List. I contribute their success to the superior education they received at OLPH.
